Windmills

The windmills are figurative pieces of the Porto Santo landscape, defining the place and its surroundings, in a setting of cultural and architectural values, memories and history in a rural context. With a permanent construction, rounded, in stone, light in color, with white revolving candles, they were installed on elevations, integrating gracefully into the landscape of the island. Their presence in the landscape makes them one of the most emblematic symbols, forming part of our memories, lived or associated with our imaginary ... Interest in their valorization and recognition of timelessness underlies, as factors that promote the identity of Porto Santo and its cultural character, dignifying the architectural elements and recreating the experiences and dynamics of its occupants.
